COT:
Devotional Reflection on Psalm 18:2
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

As men, we’re expected to be the rock — for our families, our friends, our communities. We’re expected to stay composed, take the hits, fix the problems, and never let things fall apart. But the truth is, even the strongest man needs a stronger foundation.

David, a warrior and king, wasn’t afraid to say it: “The Lord is my rock.” Not his army, not his strategy, not even his own strength. He had experienced battles, betrayal, and pressure most of us can’t imagine, yet he boldly declared that his safety, strength, and stability came from God alone.

This verse is a call to shift our weight onto the One who can actually hold it all. When life presses in — when stress, expectations, or temptation hit — we don’t have to hold everything up by ourselves. God is the immovable foundation, the place we can run to, the One who shields us when we’re too weak to shield ourselves.
To lead well, we don’t need to be the rock — we need to stand on the Rock.

Leadership Takeaway:
You’re not called to carry it all — you’re called to trust the One who can. Let God be your refuge, strength, and stability so you can lead with clarity, peace, and courage, no matter what life throws your way.
